Top 3 best website builders for busy solopreneurs and creative businesses.

We’ve done the research for you.

I'm a busy solopreneur who also has a 9 to 5. I love both jobs, but I also have family and friends to spend time with. If you're like me, you want a website builder that allows you to create your website in record time. Luckily for us all, there are lots of good options out there. Seth and I have tested and done comparison charts on several website builders since 2016. We’ve narrowed the list to the top three with the best features and capabilities. Here are the top three best website builders for busy solopreneurs and creative businesses:

Squarespace

Squarespace is an excellent choice for busy solopreneurs and small businesses. It's an all-in-one platform with amazing features that can handle any business, from e-commerce to personal blogs.

The templates are high quality, with Squarespace offering thousands of different designs and hundreds of templates, so you'll always find one that suits your needs perfectly. Plus, they have robust security features to keep your site safe from hackers and other threats. So let’s say SEO is important to you (and it should be!). In that case, Squarespace will also help boost your search engine rankings thanks to its built-in SEO tools, which make it easy to optimize every page on your site, so Google knows what each one is about - making sure potential customers find what they're looking for when searching online.

Squarespace is easy to use with its drag-and-drop interface and minimal learning curve; however, it still offers enough customization options so that designers can get their hands dirty if they want to make changes beyond just changing text or uploading images. We recommend using Squarespace because of its high-quality software and security features. Shopify

Shopify is another great option for a website builder; it’s my favorite for midsize businesses. It's easy to set up and manage your store and customize it later if you need to add anything new. Shopify is suitable for all kinds of businesses, including e-commerce. You can use it to sell products, services, or apps and create an affiliate program. If you can’t tell, I love Shopify!

If you’re new to e-commerce, we recommend trying them because their platform has everything under one roof (including payment gateways). I don’t think another platform comes close to Shopify regarding online selling. Shopify is where you go once you’ve outgrown Etsy (sorry not sorry Etsy lovers).

Shopify makes it simple to sell any product--even large quantities of inventory--and takes care of all the behind-the-scenes work involved in processing payments, shipping orders, providing customer service, and more (including keeping track of inventory).

I love their resource-packed blog section as well! They have amazing blog posts to help you start and grow your business.

WordPress.com

WordPress is a free and open-source platform with over 100 million users, thousands of templates, and almost endless customization. It's easy to use, has a vast community of users and developers, and has been around since 2003. Remember that I’m referring to the .com version, not the .org version of the platform. Wordpress.com is where you select a template and add finishing touches to your websites. Wordpress.org is where you install the software and template and take care of maintenance all on your own. The latter version is excellent if you have access to it or are a web developer.

WordPress is one of the most popular website builders because it has all the features you need to build your site: it's simple enough for beginners but flexible enough for more experienced web admins and developers. You can also find thousands of plugins (little pieces of code) that add more functionality or change how your site looks--and if something isn't working quite right, there's probably already a plugin for that!

Plugins are a double-edged sword on the platform; some plugins work great, while others fail – especially the free ones. As a result, you’ll have to spend some time shopping around for the best plugins to customize your website the way you want, but it’s worth it for millions of website owners.

Takeaway

After years of research, we’ve determined that the best website builders for solopreneurs and creative businesses are Squarespace, Shopify, and WordPress.com. These platforms are easy to use and offer tons of functionality to make your site unique and professional-looking.

There are plenty more options out there--and we encourage you to explore them all before deciding which platform suits your needs (and budget) best. We can help you with your search, comparison chart, content strategy, and project completion. Just get in touch to schedule a free strategy call.
