Seven Creative Businesses You Can Start With No Money (2023)
Have you ever had a great business idea but didn't have the money to start it?
You don’t need a business degree. You don’t need approval from your priest or pastor. You don’t need validation from friends and family. And you certainly don't need money to start a business.
It would be best to have a lot of passion, ambition, and drive to make it happen on your terms. There are many creative ways to get started with little or no capital. Here are seven of our favorite creative ways to start a business:
1. Become an online tutor.
You can start teaching people how to do something they're interested in learning about, like how to play guitar, make a video game, cook, or even learn a new language.
2. Start a blog.
Blog about something you love — and then monetize it by selling ad space or products that relate to the content you create on your site. (This is how I started!)
3. Sell a course online.
Create educational content about something you know well, like photography or cooking, or makeup application techniques, and sell access to it as an online course.
4. Sell on Etsy.
If you're an artist, Etsy is a goldmine! You can sell anything from paintings to knitted accessories on your storefront.
5. Sell more inventory on Squarespace or Shopify.
If you have a more extensive inventory (like T-shirts, candles, etc.), Squarespace and Shopify are great platforms for setting up an online store quickly and easily. They have tons of built-in features, so even if you don't have any coding knowledge, building an online store is more than doable!
6. Sell on Amazon.
Amazon is another great place for artists looking for sales and exposure. They have some cool tools for sellers that make it easy to get your products out there, including Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA). With FBA, you can outsource your order fulfillment to Amazon; they store your inventory and shipping orders —so all you have to do is keep creating excellent products for your customers!
7. Become an influencer or content creator.
This one has so many lanes and niches, but once you have your marketing plan, create content on your favorite social media platforms. Our favorite social media hubs are Instagram and YouTube. We created free marketing strategy guides for both Instagram and YouTube. Let us know if you’d like a free copy!
